About Ratha Yatra

An Ancient Tradition

Ratha Yatra, also known as the Chariot Festival, is one of the most ancient and revered festivals in Indian tradition. This celebration commemorates Lord Jagannath's annual journey to his aunt's temple with his siblings, Lord Balabhadra and Goddess Subhadra.

The deities are ceremoniously placed in magnificently decorated chariots and pulled through the streets by devotees - a tradition symbolizing that God comes out to meet all people, regardless of caste, creed, or social status.

In Milton Keynes, we bring this ancient tradition to life with vibrant processions, cultural performances, and community celebrations that attract thousands of participants from diverse backgrounds.
